We took longer in UK than we expected, wanted to get everything working 100% first, even including the hydraulic levelling jacks and the automatic pop-up satellite TV dish on top (talk about all the mod cons in an 18 year old bus!!)
![]() What a feat, 2 trips to Ward End in Birmingham, a real scungy area, normal English really narrow 2 lane roads with cars parked down one side (so even if two cars come in opposite directions they have to jockey looking for a gap between parked cars where they can pass each other, try that in a L.H. drive bus the size of the Queen Mary!!) Long alley way to reach the satellite repair shop with no turning but a derelict large area behind a large metal gate (locked but not padlocked) So in order to leave on the first visit, it required Paul to open the gates and drive through (opening very narrow unless you're absolutely straight on, just inches to spare either side) and turn the bus around. It was a bare, dirty area in front of what looked like a derelict and dis-used old gas works or factory. On our 2nd visit to get the newly-overhauled dish re-fitted, no sweat, swing open large metal gates, drive through and oops, bus clinging to iron gates. Just a bit too tight from that angle!. Oh dear, hole in side of bus. AND - the derelict old building was actually a working mosque, the derelict area that we were using was their car-park!! AND on the this visit - what else - a full scale prayer meeting. Didn't we whities look silly hanging off their gate?? Sorry, no photos of our embarrassment!!!!
